Over the winter we hope to start a number of projects to improve the interior decor and function of the club.
Some of you may have noticed that we have aquired new (used) furniture items including cross back chairs and pedestal tables. The existing Ikea lounge chairs, though comfortable are too big and impractical for the needs of the club. They are available to purchase for the low price of £10 a chair towards our decoration fund.
One central idea is to build a new display cabinet at the entrance to hide all the clutter. This will also hold all our books and become a proper illuminated display for our club trophies.
When this is built we will be able to clear the back corner and by hanging folding doors from the roof beam, create a proper games storage area that can double as the entertainment stage for the club band. Suiitabe doors have already been found for this task.
All of the hard furniture and interior will be repainted and the banquet bench and soft seat pads will be recovered.
The 'theme' for the facelit is fresh and light with an emphasis on natural materials, sisal / Jute rugs and limed / weathered timber. There will be an accent colour that will link everything so the interior will feel more cohesiive.
The following sketches show the visual intent but please bear with us as circumstance and budget may change some details in the building.

There have been a number of unusual craft at the club over the years including some innovative multi-hulls. The latest experimental has been created by one of our newest members Charles Dhenin specifically to break the world speed record for an electric powered hydroplane.
Charles will be launching the boat from the club to test stability and power systems however speed runs and record attempts will be on calmer inland waters in 2026

As Storm Isha approached, frantic work was undertaken at NCSC for January's workday.
The slipway was cleared, the battle agianst the leaves progressed, gutters were cleared, club boats and their covers scrubbed, bar stocks checked, the Race Box sorted, the veranda wires were reinstated and a fantastic lunch prepared by Rachel and Zoe (and devoured by the rest of us!).
Only two winter workdays left (and all members need to actively participate in at least 2 a year), so please put the next dates in your diary if you haven't done so yet: Feb 18th & March 17th 2024.
